Website Maintenance

Keep the site fast, current and actually working

A website is not finished at launch. Content goes stale, dependencies need updating, images creep in oversized, forms quietly stop delivering. Maintenance is the routine that catches those before a customer does.

  • Uptime and form monitoring
  • Backups you can restore
  • A monthly allowance for changes

What's included every month

  • Uptime monitoring with alerts, and checks that enquiry forms are still delivering
  • Dependency and security updates applied and tested
  • Backups taken regularly and restore-tested
  • Performance checks on key pages, with fixes for regressions
  • Broken link and 404 checks, with redirects where pages have moved
  • An allowance of content changes and small improvements
  • A short monthly note covering what changed and what we recommend next

The failure we see most

A contact form that stopped sending months ago and nobody noticed, because nothing errors — the visitor sees a thank-you message and the email goes nowhere. We monitor form delivery specifically, not just whether the page loads.

Improvement, not just upkeep

Part of each month goes on making something better rather than keeping it the same: tightening copy on a page that gets traffic but no enquiries, adding a missing service page, compressing images that have crept onto the homepage, improving a slow page.

SEO hygiene included

  • New pages added to the sitemap automatically and checked in Search Console
  • Metadata reviewed so no two pages compete with identical titles
  • Coverage and indexing errors picked up and fixed
  • Structured data validated after content changes

How the work runs

01

Audit

We check the current state: speed, security, backups, broken links, forms.

02

Stabilise

Anything broken or out of date is fixed in the first month.

03

Maintain

A monthly routine of updates, monitoring and checks.

04

Improve

Each month includes time spent making a page work better.

Common questions

Do you maintain sites you didn't build?
Usually yes, after a short audit. If the site is on a platform we cannot support safely we will say so rather than take the retainer.
What counts as an included change?
Content edits, new pages using existing layouts, image swaps, form and contact updates, small fixes. Larger work — new sections, new features, redesigns — is quoted separately.
How fast do you respond if something breaks?
Site-down issues are treated as urgent and worked on the same working day. Routine requests are handled within the agreed turnaround.
Are backups included?
Yes — regular backups plus a tested way to restore them. A backup nobody has ever restored is not a backup.
